MPavilion RMIT has officially opened at the Brunswick campus!
Generously gifted to RMIT University by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, MPavilion RMIT offers our community a new place of connection, inspiration, and creative collaboration.
The award-winning pavilion was designed by Rachaporn Choochuey of Bangkok-based architecture studio all(zone) and is positioned in the heart of our Brunswick campus’s central courtyard, drawing visitors into the communal space.
The vibrant MPavilion RMIT is a stunning example of #design innovation and a wonderful new space for events, learning and teaching activities and #community collaborations.
Its new home is particularly fitting in the centre of the Brunswick Design District (BDD), a partnership of Merri-bek City Council, RMIT and Creative Victoria to support innovation within the creative community.
Experimenting with materials and forms used for the first time in Australia, all(zone) worked closely with Melbourne based Zilka Studio – led by RMIT academic Dr Leanne Zilka – Tensys and AECOM to realise the pavilion’s design.
MPavilion is an initiative of the Naomi Milgrom Foundation, each year commissioning an outstanding architect to design a temporary pavilion for the Queen Victoria Gardens in Melbourne. These pavilions are then gifted to the state of Victoria, with MPavilion RMIT the ninth pavilion to be gifted to a Victorian institution.
MPavilion RMIT’s installation at our Brunswick Campus was led by Hassell, Kane Constructions Pty Ltd and Turner & Townsend in partnership with the team at RMIT.
